Rating: 10/10 (A Hilarious Classic)
Release Date: September 6th 2001
Story: A rich man's (Prakash Raj) best friend(Chandramohan) sends his son (Venkatesh) to stay in the former's house in hopes of getting him a job and the son ends up falling in love with the rich man's soon to be married daughter (Arti Agarwal). Whether or not they get together at the end of the film forms the story of Nuvvu Naaku Nachav.
Performances: After massy family dramas in Preminchukundam Raa and Kalisundam Raa, Victory venkeatesh is back with another classy family entertainer. Venkatesh is flawless as usual with his performance and his expressions are priceless at times. It's a cakewalk for Venky and once again proves why he's the most liked hero in Telugu cinema. Venkatesh is simply excellent in the film and carries the film.
Arti Agarwal is decent in her debut and her first film nerves show throughout the film especially in emotional scenes.
Prakash Raj gets a meaty role as Nandu's father and is also flawless. Chandramohan does the usual middle class good guy father role and he is fine.
Sunil and Brahmanandham are hilarious in their respective parts in the 1st and 2nd half. MS Narayana and Hema are good in their roles. Tanikella Bharani is decent as the grooms father.
Direction: K Vijaya Bhaskar has made a classic of a film that is bound to stay with the audience for a long, long time. The story is routine but the fresh and extremely entertaining presentation and comedy is what the film so good. He is aptly supported by Trivikram Srinivas who has written some incredible dialogues for the movie and perhaps the dialogues are the real hero of the film as they are simply hilarious. The screenplay is fine. But on the contrary, the only problem with the film is the length as the movie clocks in at a little over 3 hours. But nevertheless, the film is pretty entertaining throughout and only gets serious towards the last 15 minutes.
Technicalities: Music and BGM by Koti is good. Cinematography by K Ravindra Babu is nice and it makes for a pleasant watch. Editing by A. Sreekar Prasad is questionable as the film is more than 3 hours long and it doesn't have to be. Dialogues by Trivikram are the highlight of the film. Many scenes seem ordinary but the dialogues are what makes the difference in the end. They are simply stupendous. Art is nice for the house set the majority of the film takes place in. Production Values by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore are grand and superb.
Verdict: Nuvvu Naaku Nachav is a pure family film and an instant classic. The film provides clean entertainment from the word go and Venkatesh does it all in the movie and he makes you laugh throughout the film. He is ably supported by Prakash Raj, Sunil, and Chandramohan who all give superb performances. The direction is good and the comedy is clean.
The 1st is excellent. The interval bang is good though a bit predictable. The 2nd half drags to an extent after Asha's wedding and the film gets a tad too serious. A predictable climax also doesn't help the film along with it's lengthy run-time. Despite it's flaws, this is a timeless classic that you can watch for years to come.
Overall, Nuvvu Naaku Nachav is a hilarious classic that is bound to stay with every Telugu cinema fan for the rest of their lives. Ask any Telugu person and they will tell you they love this movie.
Highly recommended and if you've never watched it, well then WTF are you doing with your life? X out of this page and go watch it ASAP.
